Summer Student Position: Surveyor

Qualifications:

  • Currently enrolled in a Civil Engineering or Civil Tech program.
  • Work effectively in a team environment.
  • Ability to read and interpret contract specifications, drawings and other construction documents.
  • Excellent computer skills and experience with MS Office including MS Project and AutoCAD Civil 3D.
  • Computer and software supplied by successful applicant.
  • Client service and customer focused in order to establish and maintain effective relationships with the community.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills in order to prioritize workload.
  • Must be able to meet with residents of the RM.
  • Self-motivated with strong willingness and ability to learn and be challenged.
  • Ability to survey using GPS, rod and level.

Seasonal Green Team (approximately early May to late October).

Summer Green Team:

The successful candidate must have the following qualifications:

  • Between the ages of 15 and 29
  • Minimum valid Class 5 Driver’s License
  • Clean Driving Abstract

Work includes:

  • Playground and park grounds maintenance
  • Mowing and trimming maintain other green spaces
  • Weed control (no chemicals)
  • Misc painting of public facilities
  • Misc refuse and recycling clean up, litter picking
  • Graffiti removal
  • Sidewalk and trail enhancements
  • Maintenance Work in park enhancements

Other duties as assigned.


Seasonal Class 1 Heavy Equipment Operator

  • Must have Valid Class I Driver’s License, with airbrakes, clean Driving Abstract
  • Must have Motor Grader experience

The successful candidate will be performing the following duties:

  • Operate and maintain Heavy Equipment such as;
    • Motor Grader, Tandem Dump truck, Tanker truck, Loader
    • Dozer, backhoe loader, lowbed, rubber tire tractors
    • Excavator (small and large)
    • Welding
    • Seasonal Class 2 and Class 3 duties, including labour
    • Other duties as assigned

Seasonal Class 2 Rubber Tire Operator

  • Must have Valid Class 5 Driver’s License (higher class preferred, with airbrakes), clean Driving Abstract
  • Must have Loader / Backhoe experience

The successful candidate will be performing the following duties:

  • Operate and maintain Heavy Equipment such as;
    • Loader / backhoe, roadside mower, finishing mower, rotary mower
    • Skid steer and attachments, box blade, and similar equipment
    • Seasonal Class 3 duties, including labour
    • Other duties as assigned
  • Other duties as assigned

Seasonal Class 3 – operator.

The successful candidate must have the following qualifications:

  • Minimum valid Class 5 Driver’s License (higher class preferred)
  • Clean Driving Abstract

Work includes operating one-ton truck with trailer, laborer, operating various small hand tools.

Knowledge of Operating Other Various Equipment, and holding a higher valid class license would be an asset, and would be paid higher rate while performing these higher duties.


Summer Program Leader

The Rural Municipality of St. Clements is looking for Summer Program Leaders to join our team. The ideal candidates will be enthusiastic, personable, good with kids and have a positive attitude.

The Summer Program Leaders will be responsible for developing and implementing activity for the summer day camps provided through the RM. This position will entail interaction with the public and working with children from 5-12 years old. The successful candidates will be required to work at multiple different sites in the RM so access to a car and a valid class 5 license is required. The positions will report to the Recreation Manager. The positions are a summer term position and the position will be posted until filled with suitable candidates.

Heritage Wing Interpreter

The Rural Municipality of St. Clements is looking for Heritage Wing Interpreters for the East Beaches Heritage Wing in Grand Marais Manitoba. The ideal candidates will have a passion for local history and be self motivated, have a positive attitude, good communication skills and have a basic understanding of word processing technology.

The Heritage Wing Interpreters will be responsible for interacting with public and presenting historical facts of the East Beaches Heritage wing. Interpreters will be expected to be visible to visitors and available to answer questions about the exhibits. Successful candidates will also be expected to keep stats of visitors to the museum as well as prepare and send weekly reports to the Recreation Manager. The position will also require the successful applicant to maintain a knowledge base of the East Beaches area’s history. The positions will report to the Recreation Manager. The positions will remain open until filled by suitable candidates.
