It’s National Public Works Week!

Did you know that Mayor and Council have passed resolution proclaiming May 15-21 National Public Works Week?! Public Works professionals focus on infrastructure, facilities and services that are of vital importance to sustainable and resilient communities and to the public health, high quality of life and well-being of the people of St. Clements.

This week is not only a very important week to celebrate annually, it is especially important this year and we hope we can expose more of our citizens to the immense value and hard work of our Public Works Department. The department is responsible for rebuilding, improving and protecting our transportation, water supply, water treatment and solid waste systems, public buildings and other structures and facilities essential for our citizens.

The Canadian Public Works Association theme this year is “Ready & Resilient” and it couldn’t ring more true as we reflect on the difficult and challenging year we’ve had due to many curve balls from mother nature. From working around the clock, calls in the middle of the night, helping protect properties, dangerous conditions for our operators, what seemed to be continuous snowfalls every week and into the wettest April on record since 1896. This year, our Public Works has seen it all.

We want to thank each and every one of our employees in Public Works as they all play a very important role in our Municipality. Thank you for the long hours you put in, the hard work you endure and the time away from your family that is spent when the call comes in – we appreciate everything that you do!
