Contest Winners of the Red River North Holiday Yards of the Season

We want to thank all of the homes in the RM of St. Clements that participated in the Holiday Yards of the Season Contest, as well as those that participated in the surrounding regions! We hope that it gave you something to be proud of and a fun little distraction during the restrictions that we’ve been facing with COVID-19. We hope that many of you were able to go out for a safe drive and enjoyed viewing some of the beautiful displays that participated.

Congratulations to the winners below including 5231 Henderson Hwy who won Best Decorated in the RM of St. Clements and Cayden Strang who won the Bingo Card Grand Prize chosen by random draw.

We hope to see you next holiday season!

Red River North Holiday Yards of the Season is a Regional partnership with Red River North Tourism, Communities in Bloom, City of Selkirk, RM of St. Andrews, RM of St. Clements, RM of West St. Paul and the RM of East St. Paul, offering the community a festive seasonal light display from December 19, 2020 to January 2, 2021.

Winning categories are “Best Overall Light Display” and “Best Overall Theme” as well as one winner from each City/RM chosen by local representatives.  The dates December 19 – January 2 were chosen to correspond with the Holiday Break from schools. Judging will occur between these dates as well.

In addition to the Holiday Display contest, in order to get community involvement there will be a Bingo Card game sheet that can be filled out and submitted for random draws as the holiday displays are toured.  People are encouraged to participate in the People’s Choice and submit a vote for their favorite display which will also result in a winner.  An online map will be available at and your local area community website to identify where to find the displays in each community!

The in-house committee of the Red River North Holiday Yards of the Season is comprised of the following individuals: Taylor Gyselinck and Michell Balharry (The Selkirk Record), Communities in Bloom, Heather Bailey (Red River North Tourism), Ellie Longbottom (City of Selkirk), Teresa Howell (RM of St Andrews), Colleen Sailor, Brett Paskaruk and Dave Cain (RM of St. Clements), Damara Geddes (RM of West St Paul) and Kurtis Johnson (RM of East St Paul).

This event is important to us as it is the first time for a partnership including all these geographical areas.  Our hope is to create a socially distanced activity for our communities as well as start a new traditional Red River North Holiday Yard display event.  The success of this event will also depend upon the generosity of local businesses.  Not only will this help benefit our event it is a unique advertisement opportunity for promoting local businesses.
