The RM of St. Clements is advising residents of scheduled watermain connections that will require temporary water shutdowns and Boil Water Advisories (BWA) in East Selkirk. These upgrades are necessary to connect new infrastructure and maintain the community water system.
February 10 – Connection to Existing 250 mm Watermain (Kittson Road)
Affected Area:
Entire community of East Selkirk, including Happy Thought School and East Selkirk Middle School.
Schedule:
- Preparation work will occur during the day.
- Watermain shutdown will occur at approximately 3:45 p.m., following school dismissal.
- Water service is expected to be restored by approximately 9:00 p.m.
Boil Water Advisory:
- A community-wide Boil Water Advisory will be issued.
- Water samples will be taken the following morning, with a second set taken 24 hours later.
- Pending satisfactory results and expedited testing, the advisory may be lifted as early as Friday morning, February 13.
February 11 – Connection to Existing 150 mm Watermain (Strathcona Road) Pending successful completion of the 250 mm connection, this second tie-in will proceed.
Affected Area:
East Selkirk Middle School.
Schedule:
- Preparation work will occur during the day.
- Watermain shutdown will occur at approximately 3:45 p.m.
- Water service is expected to be restored by approximately 9:00 p.m.
Boil Water Advisory:
- A localized Boil Water Advisory will be required.
- The advisory may be lifted as early as Saturday morning.
- Due to the weekend and Louis Riel Day holiday, removal could extend to February 17, pending lab results.
What Residents Should Do:
- Store water ahead of scheduled shutdowns if needed.
- During a Boil Water Advisory, bring water to a rolling boil for at least one minute before drinking, cooking, brushing teeth, or washing food.
- Watch for updates regarding advisory status.
