The Province of Manitoba is currently offering a subsidized bacteria testing program for private wells and cisterns through Duracan Laboratory in Winnipeg.

Residents can pick up Duracan sample bottles at the RM of St. Clements Office. Please use only the Duracan bottles provided, as samples submitted in incorrect containers may be rejected.

The subsidized test is available once per year for private water system owners and tests for total coliform and E. coli. The cost to homeowners is $17.67, including taxes.

Samples must be collected by the resident and delivered to Duracan Laboratory within 30 hours of collection. Results will be provided directly to the resident by Duracan based on the contact information submitted on the chain of custody form.

If bacteria are detected, Duracan will provide follow-up instructions and a coupon for one free re-test after mitigation steps, such as shocking the well, have been completed.
