The RM of St. Clements would like to advise residents that the Province of Manitoba’s annual Dutch elm disease (DED) surveys and invasive pest monitoring program is underway for the 2026 season.
Between June 22 and early September, provincial inspectors will be travelling throughout communities to monitor for signs of Dutch elm disease and the presence of stored elm firewood. Inspections may take place on both public and private properties, with staff conducting surveys on foot or by vehicle.
These annual surveys play an important role in protecting Manitoba’s urban forests by identifying infected trees early and helping to prevent the spread of Dutch elm disease.
Residents who see provincial inspectors in their neighbourhood can be assured they are carrying out this important monitoring work as part of the Province’s DED management program. Inspectors wear high-visibility vests and government issued identification. Inspectors may not approach every resident or house before entering onto properties to conduct inspections.
