and we’re starting to see increased water movement and calls related to drainage.
At this stage, most concerns are related to culverts. As snow melts, water is trying to move through the system, but in some cases culverts may still be frozen or blocked, causing water to back up and pool.
Before reporting an issue, we ask residents to take a moment to check a few things:
• The exact location of the concern
• Whether this has happened in the past
• If the culvert or nearby ditch appears blocked or frozen
• Whether water is flowing properly in surrounding ditches
• Any visible obstructions
Having this information ready helps us respond more efficiently and prioritize where attention is needed most.
To report a concern, please call 204-482-3300. Our team is actively monitoring calls and will continue to do so throughout evenings and weekends as conditions change.
Please note:
• We respond to municipal infrastructure only
• Provincial roads and culverts are handled by Manitoba Highways (204-346-6266)
• Sand and sandbags are available at the RM Office (1043 Kittson Road), but residents are responsible for filling and transporting them (please bring your own shovel)
Public Works crews are already out monitoring conditions, checking flows, and addressing problem areas as they arise. As always, our priority is protecting homes first, followed by other structures.
We appreciate your cooperation and patience during this busy time. If something feels urgent or is rapidly changing, please call right away.
Stay safe and enjoy the warmer weather!
