Manitoba Government Invests $42,000 to Support Rural Municipality of St. Clements Recreation Master Plan
The Manitoba government is investing $42,000 through the From the Ground Up – Safe, Healthy Communities for ALL to support the Rural Municipality (RM) of St. Clements in developing a recreation master plan that promotes active living for children, youth, seniors and families, Municipal and Northern Relations Minister Glen Simard announced today.
“This investment supports the RM of St. Clements as it builds a long‑term vision for recreation that reflects the needs and the opportunities for the next decade and beyond,” said Simard. “A strong master plan will help guide future decisions and ensure recreation investments promote safety, health and social connection. We are committed to helping municipalities plan for growth and create spaces where residents of all ages can thrive.”
This municipal recreation master plan will guide investment in parks, facilities, programs and trails for the next 10 to 15 years, improving access to safe, inclusive and activities that promote a healthy lifestyle for all residents.
The project will include efforts to:
- create and assess an inventory of all recreation assets;
- engage residents, community groups and regional partners; and
- identify gaps, barriers and emerging needs in the community.
A prioritized plan will be developed based on these efforts, that will guide council decisions, budgeting and future grant applications, ensuring recreation investments directly support community safety, health and social connection, the minister noted.
“Council is extremely grateful to the Manitoba government for this investment in the RM of St. Clements,” said Debbie Fiebelkorn, mayor, RM of St. Clements. “This funding will help us create a recreation master plan that reflects the needs of our residents and provides a clear roadmap for future investments in parks, trails, facilities and recreation programs. By engaging our community and identifying priorities, we can ensure recreation opportunities remain accessible, inclusive and beneficial for residents of all ages for years to come.”
The From the Ground Up – Safe, Healthy Communities for ALL program is a Manitoba government grant program. It provides up to $100,000 to help non-profits, municipalities and northern affairs councils fund community revitalization, youth programs and capital space improvements.
