About bed bugs
Bed bugs are small, flat, reddish-brown insects about the size of an apple seed. There is no evidence they spread disease. Some people react to their bites, which can look like mosquito bites. Bed bugs do not live on people. They can, however, travel on clothing, bags and other belongings.
Recommended steps
- Check your clothing, bags, purse and coat for live bugs, eggs or small dark spots.
- Put clothing you wore during the visit in a dryer on medium to high heat for at least 30 minutes.
- Check your vehicle seat, and any furniture you sat on after your visit, seams and folds.
- Over the next few weeks, watch for bites, small blood spots on bedding, or live insects.
- If you think you have bed bugs, contact a licensed pest control professional.
