The RM of St. Clements has contracted Green Drop to remove trees infected with Dutch Elm Disease. Work is scheduled to begin the first week of January and is expected to take approximately two to three weeks, depending on weather and site conditions.
Trees Identified for Removal
All trees slated for removal have already been inspected and marked by the Province of Manitoba. Marked trees include several located on private property, as Dutch Elm Disease spreads easily and poses a significant risk to the community’s healthy elm population.
Access to Private Property
If removal crews require access to private property, residents will receive a notice in advance.
Why This Work Is Necessary
Dutch Elm Disease is highly infectious and can spread quickly through root systems and elm bark beetles. Removing diseased trees is essential to slow the spread and protect the remaining healthy tree canopy within our municipality.
Thank You for Your Cooperation
We appreciate residents’ patience and understanding while this work is completed. Protecting our municipal urban forest is a shared effort, and timely removal of infected trees is an important step.
