We are excited to offer our residents a safe disposal of their residential household hazardous waste at our new Household Hazardous Waste Depot that will be located at our Libau Landfill. This new, free service will be begin operating June 1, 2021.
We’ve listened to our residents request for a location within the Municipality to be able to bring items such as paint cans, pesticides, corrosives and more.
In addition to our used oil and used oil materials collection that we currently offer, the HHW program will allow us to collect the following types of waste at the Libau Landfill:
- compressed gases
- corrosives
- flammable liquids
- fluorescent lighting tubes & compact fluorescents (CFL)
- paint products such as paint cans
- pesticides
- toxic materials

IMPORTANT: All HHW and paint products must be clearly labelled in their original container to protect the health and safety of those handling the materials.
The stewardship partner for the HHW Depot is ProductCare, which operates in response to the provincial HHW and Prescribed Material Stewardship Regulation.
